  1. "View all items" temporarily

Google Reader (FMM rest its soul) had a nifty usability feature: when all feed items were read, it displayed "View all items" instead of items themselves (just like BazQux). However, it displayed all items only once, not switched feed to "Show all" mode.

Use case in point: I've accidentally scrolled too far, marking everything as read. Or I want to look up some of the recent items to share the link. Now I click button, which changes feed settings and disappears altogether, so I have to remember to change settings back, and do it in another place.

  2. Visible divider between content separated widely in time

I sometimes get a lot of unread news. When trying to get through it I will always start from today and work my way back since news will still come in and it gets more irrelevant the further back I go. This means that there will be gaps of several days between new content and content i haven't had time to go through. I would like there to be some kind of visible border when I reach the end of new and come to the beginning of the backlog.

This idea could even be expanded to having some kind of…

  4. Include the timestamp in mobile views.

I pretty much exclusively use the "List View", which on desktop includes the timestamp on each row (5m, 1d, 1w etc). That info is really handy to see at a glance, but gets removed on smaller screens. It would be really nice if it could still appear in mobile, even if it has to be a really tiny font.

  6. Fold tags in articles longer than certain length

Certain sites tend to stuff a lot of keywords into their tags. It would be great if such tags were collapsed/folded to maximize useful screen space.
For example article like these https://imgur.com/eAqah9j.png
4 lines of pointless tags could be collapsed into 1 and expanded with a click.

  8. Add a CSS class for unread items

BazQux currently has these classes for read items (class="unselected read expandable compact compactListViewItem post msgFrame")

It would be useful for client-side styling to add 'unread' to the similar class for unread items, which would allow more flexible client-side styling.

  9. Default view for new feeds

Whenever I add a feed, I switch it to list view, rather than viewing the item contents expanded by default. It would be nice if I could set new feeds to start in list view (or any other view) by default.

  10. Better/easier way for handling/showing read status

Personally I manually toggle the read status of a message. Sometimes I accidently toggle it. So it would be nice to have a read/unread button in the top bar and a different line color on the left side of the message: e.g. read of read and blue (as now) for unread.

  11. Move the article buttons (star, tag, etc.) to lower left corner of the articles

The current placement of the article buttons (star, tag, share, mark read) in the top right corner is very inconvenient: they are most likely used after reading/scanning the article (i.e. at the bottom). Also, the mouse most likely is close to the left side where all the feeds are.

  15. assigning folders UX improvements

assiging/managing folders to a feed is not the best experience and can be easily improved with a few tweaks:
    1) when user selects the folder to assign the feed to from pull down menu the pull down disappears. Most of the time, I want to assign the feed to multiple folders so this an annoyance.
    2) sometimes the vertical scroller does not appear in the pull down menu. this seems to be a bug. I have a lot of folders and when this happens I cannot get to all of them so I have to close the pull down menu…

  16. Filter/tag unfiltered items (see what has no stream/filter)

Due to more then 300 smart streams at this moment I would like to see a tag of items which are not in a smart stream. Goal: make it much easier/faster to read the news what you would like to read or not.

  18. Add command to scroll to article bottom

The reader has command (hotkey "u") to scroll to the article top. Need new command to jump to the bottom.
Now, if the user wants to see comments after a long article, he should press PgDn many times.

  20. Add a right to left swipe for articles in the mobile UI

Unfortunately i have this recurring issue with third party apps that allow for swiping where the same article appears multiple times. It's annoying and a waste of time. The only thing these apps habe that Bazqux mobile UI doesn't have is swipe right to left on an article to mark it as read/unread. I also think this method would solve a lot of the other issues listed here, people who are looking for a solution tk keeping unrrad articles unread while scrolling past them, without having to make extra clicks/touches.
