An error occurred while saving the comment Desidério Murcho commentedAs far as I know there is a new standard in progress about desktop notifications. Google and other sites do it via a piece of code embedded in the webpages themselves. The user does not need any extension. Here is some info on this:
http://css.dzone.com/articles/chrome-and-firefox-desktop
http://www.html5rocks.com/en/tutorials/notifications/quick/
http://caniuse.com/notificationsAlternatively you could add notifications to the BQ Chrome extension, the way this extension for Feedly does:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/feedly-notifier/egikgfbhipinieabdmcpigejkaomgjgbThank you for your kind attention!
To me BQ Reader has only two minor points against it compared with the competition: it is ugly and lacks notifications. The first one I managed to solve via userstyles (http://userstyles.org/styles/90700/bazqux-reader-white). The second, there is nothing I can do about it because I do not know enough coding to create an extension with desktop notifications. So I keep going back to Feedly. :-(

At least give us a keyboard shortcut; I find myself having to scroll up too much just to use the share button. Another alternative is to make the share button always visible next to the other top buttons.
