Desktop notifications
I would very much like to have desktop notifications, just like Gmail does on Chrome and Safari (Firefox will be able to do that in a couple of months too). Inoreader has this, Feedly also via a Chrome add-on. To me this is crucial because it allows me to be away from the browser writing or reading and yet I know when a new feed article comes in. Could you please do that? I hope it is feasible.

As far as I know there is a new standard in progress about desktop notifications. Google and other sites do it via a piece of code embedded in the webpages themselves. The user does not need any extension. Here is some info on this:

http://www.html5rocks.com/en/tutorials/notifications/quick/
http://caniuse.com/notificationsAlternatively you could add notifications to the BQ Chrome extension, the way this extension for Feedly does:

To me BQ Reader has only two minor points against it compared with the competition: it is ugly and lacks notifications. The first one I managed to solve via userstyles (http://userstyles.org/styles/90700/bazqux-reader-white). The second, there is nothing I can do about it because I do not know enough coding to create an extension with desktop notifications. So I keep going back to Feedly. :-(

It's interesting how Gmail does this on Chrome and Safari. Is it through some extension? Could you provide a link to this extension?
